Job Summary

As a Lead Platform Engineer at Deepomatic, you’ll be the technical & product manager of the platform engineering team. At Deepomatic, this teams is responsible for:

  • Improving internal tooling that support the whole development life-cycle (building, releasing, monitoring) to enable a “You Build it, you run it“ culture.

  • Improving the underlying infrastructure of our Platform (from network to applicative provisioning) by relying on the infra-as-code principles

  • Being the security reference point and improving security tooling and standards

  • Assisting other teams that might have needs that our tooling cannot yet easily support.

Besides leading the platform engineering team, you'll work closely with all the internal teams (whether developers, product or customer-facing teams), VPE and CTO to understand their needs as well as evangelizing new ways to doing to maintain a strong team ownership and excellence.

Although this role involves some product management skills, we are first and foremost looking for someone with a technical background first to be able to guide and challenge the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of the platform engineering team – You will be the manager of 3 SREs with DevOps / DevSecOps roles.

  • Product management – Even though we like to work with the product trio (see this link) (or duo when there is no designer) methodology, the team won’t have a dedicated product manager yet. We are thus also looking for someone with an appetance for product management to drive feature discoveries. You will be coached by our lead PM if you are interested to.

  • Enabling a DevOps culture while limiting the learning curve for the other teams – We think the DevOps methodology is great as it enables ownership through the development lifecycle. But it also needs to come with trainings, documentation, and, if possible, tools which are as easy to learn for non SRE engineers for it to be successful. You will be responsible for driving that balance that will allow to keep the level of support you need to provide to other teams manageable.

  • Enabling a no-downtime culture – We run a multi-tenant SaaS platform but we sometimes still rely on large interruptions of service over night due to the large quantity of data we manage and the criticality of the operations we serve. Moving to a full no-downtime development process is our next challenge.

  • Maintaining a high standard regarding security - The data of our clients is critical to them and we want to maintain high security standards. Meanwhile, integration with large entreprises poses authentication and permissions challenges. The team will be also responsible to handle parts of those topics.
